Michka and Toni met in 2019 in San Diego, CA when Toni was hired as the Pastry Chef for Nutmeg Bakery & Cafe, owned by Mickha’s family.

They instantly hit it off after realizing they both had backgrounds in art and design while sharing an entrepreneurial spirit.

During covid shutdowns, Toni left nutmeg to take the leap in starting her own business, creating handmade jewelry. She named it Earth & Clay Collective. It quickly gained a following as a small pop-up shop at local farmers markets and through Instagram.

As two female business owners with small children, they realized there was a lack of shopping options in their community that offered sustainable and handmade items that supported small businesses. The idea of bringing community together doesn’t stop there. They will also host classes, workshops, sip & shops and hold private events in the connecting space between Nutmeg and Earth & Clay.

They searched for locations for three years before deciding to take over the space attached to Nutmeg, knock the wall down and make it a sought after destination for delicious food and shopping!
